Darren Manning, driver of the #14 ABC Supply Indy Car, is participating in the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway's road course Jan. 27-28. He will be racing on the same track that the IRL IndyCar Series will use for their first Open Test of the year next week.
Sixteen current and former IndyCar drivers have secured rides in the prestigious 24 hours at Daytona, an event which A.J. Foyt won twice (1983 and 1985).
Manning is driving the No. 11 CITGO Riley/Pontiac car in the Daytona Prototype class. The last time Manning competed in the event, he finished sixth with co-drivers Scott Dixon and Casey Mears. This year, his co-drivers are Patrick Carpentier, the Canadian Indy car driver who is going to compete in NASCAR, Milka Duno, a female driver hailing from Venezuela rumored to be entering the IndyCar Series this season and Ryan Dalziel, of Scotland, who will compete in the Champ Car World Series after several seasons in Toyota Atlantics.
Much of the action is on Speed Channel which is offering unprecedented coverage beginning at 2:30 pm – 6 pm Eastern Time this Saturday, January 27th. It continues from 8 – 10 pm that evening. The concluding segment begins airing at 6 a.m. Sunday morning and continues through the finish at 1:30 pm. It will also provide post-race ceremonies and interviews.
The IndyCar Series moves in to Daytona on Tuesday, Jan.30th with on-track activity set for Jan.31-Feb.1. A.J. Foyt’s ABC Supply team will have its first opportunity to work with Manning driving the No. 14 Dallara/Honda.
