Four Associates Share What Makes ABC Supply a Unique Place to Work

Our mission from day one has been to find ways to help contractors be successful. And to achieve this, we’ve recognized that our associates must have the tools, training and support they need to be the contractor’s best partner.

That’s why we’re an employee-first company. We ensure our associates have the knowledge and expertise to provide sound customer service, and we challenge them to think creatively, identify opportunities and take actions that ultimately benefit our contractor customers’ businesses.

To share more about what makes ABC Supply a unique place to work, we chatted with four past Ken Hendricks Award winners and longtime ABC Supply associates, Pat Keeney, Jeff Ploch, Frank Novascone and Tom Wills.

Pat: Our Core Values are one of the things that make us great because we practice what we preach. Opportunity is a big one. It’s one of the first words Ken Hendricks said when ABC Supply acquired the company I worked for, and it’s something I always talk about when I hire people. I tell them that the opportunity I was given by this company is what got me to the place I am today.

Frank: This company has given me the tools I need to be successful, but it hasn’t limited how I use them to succeed. There was a time before ABC Supply when I considered different career paths. Now I can’t ever imagine working someplace else because I am my own entrepreneur at this company, and I can make decisions that benefit my business and my contractors’ businesses.

Jeff: We’re a people-first company, and we care a lot about both our associates and our customers. We focus on finding our associates’ strengths and then putting them in positions where they can best succeed. Because we focus so much on associate engagement, our associates are able to then provide great service experiences to our customers.

Tom: I joined ABC Supply in 1984 when it had just 13 stores, so I feel like I was part of building something. We’ve always been a family-oriented company, and our team goes to work each day with the same set of values and beliefs about what we’re here to accomplish. Those values and beliefs are a reminder that we’re all in this together, for each other and for our customers.
